Bijaya Sharma is a highly driven professional, with over 8 years of experience in the development sector. Her expertise lies in project management, policy advocacy, and promoting sustainable solutions across key areas such as Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), and health. Ms. Bijaya is particularly dedicated to advancing inclusivity, gender equality, and social inclusion (GESI), integrating these principles into all aspects of her work.

Throughout her career, she has successfully led a variety of initiatives, designing and implementing projects that drive tangible impact. She has a strong track record of collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including local governments, NGOs, and international organizations, to develop evidence-based policies and solutions. Her leadership extends to managing financial, human, and material resources to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of programs. Notable achievements include coordinating youth fellowship program, managing community training programs, and leading disaster management initiatives at the grassroots level. She has mobilized over 2,500 youth in environmental awareness campaigns and trained more than 400 community groups on WASH practices and healthy behaviors. She has also played a key role in shaping disaster preparedness and response strategies, particularly through the localization of the BIPAD Portal, a disaster information management system.

Ms. Sharma holds a master’s degree in environmental science from Tribhuvan University and is skilled in resource planning, monitoring and evaluation, and financial management. She has also pursued numerous specialized trainings in disaster risk reduction, behavior change communication, and GEDSI. Her commitment to gender equality, social inclusion, and community-driven development continues to shape her work, ensuring that marginalized voices are heard and prioritized in the projects she leads.
