Achyut Raj Pandey

Consultant - Health System Research

Mr. Achyut Raj Pandey is a public health researcher with over a decade of experience in health systems, policy, and operational research. He holds a Master’s in Public Health and is currently a PhD scholar at the Bergen Centre for Ethics and Priority Setting in Health, University of Bergen.

He previously served as a Senior Research Fellow at HERD International and as a Senior Research Advisor for the FCDO-funded MEOR project, both involving close collaboration with Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population to generate evidence and inform policy and practice.

Mr. Pandey also worked at the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) as a Research Officer, where he managed multiple projects and coordinated with diverse stakeholders. Skilled in mixed-methods and implementation science, he has led large-scale surveys and health systems research.

He is an academic editor for PLOS ONE, Journal of Nepal Health Research Council and the Journal of Nepal Public Health Association and has trained over 1,000 health professionals in research methods in collaboration with NHRC, Nepal Medical Association, and various academic institutions.

Mr. Pandey has extensive experience working with government bodies at federal and local levels, particularly in evidence generation and knowledge translation. He is currently supporting the Ministry of Health and Population in prioritizing interventions for Universal Health Coverage.

Since 2017, he has served as a Commissioner for the Nepal NCDI Poverty Commission and, in 2023, was elected to the Executive Committee of the Nepal Health Economics Association. He received the NHRC Young Health Researcher Award in 2021 for his contributions to public health research.
