Mr. Achyut Raj Pandey is a well-experienced public health researcher with over 8 years of experience working in the field of public health research. In terms of academic qualification, he holds a master’s degree in public health and his expertise spans from operations research to health policy, and system research.
Before joining HERD International, Mr. Pandey served as a Senior Research Advisor in an FCDO-funded endeavor known as the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Operational Research Project (MEOR). This project was an integral part of the technical assistance program to the Ministry of Health and Population in Nepal. In his capacity as Senior Research Advisor, he led multiple research initiatives within MEOR, all aimed at enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, equity, and quality of healthcare service delivery.
In addition to his role at MEOR, Achyut Raj Pandey contributed significantly as a Research Officer to the Nepal Health Research Council. Here, he managed numerous research projects and actively facilitated coordination among diverse stakeholders. He is experienced in mixed-method implementation science techniques while excelling in his competencies in surveys and system research. He additionally holds the role of academic editor for esteemed journals such as ‘PLOS ONE’ and the ‘Journal of Nepal Public Health Association’. In collaboration with Nepal Health Research Council, Nepal Medical Association and different medical and health and medical science colleges, he trained 1000+ medical and health science professionals in proposal writing, data analysis and scientific publication.
He has the experience of working closely with government bodies at the federal and local levels in areas like evidence generation and knowledge translation. Achyut Raj Pandey’s engagement with government bodies at both the federal and local levels is a testament to his expertise in evidence generation and knowledge translation. In his most recent endeavor, he has been working closely with the Ministry of Health and Population to prioritize interventions for achieving Universal Health Coverage in Nepal.
Since 2017, he has held the prestigious position of Commissioner for ‘The Nepal NCDI Poverty Commission,’ demonstrating his unwavering commitment to addressing critical health challenges. In 2023, his dedication to the field was further recognized when he was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the Nepal Health Economics Association. He received the ‘NHRC Young Health Researcher Award 2021’ in acknowledgment of his valuable contributions to the scientific community.
