A Story of Female Community Health Volunteers
Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) are an integral part of Nepal’s healthcare system. These volunteers work closely with the community to improve utilization of healthcare services. They play a crucial role in providing community-based health education and counselling on safe motherhood, family planning, nutrition and immunization. They also play a vital role in the promotion of community outreach activities. Their role remains significant in shock-prone situations such as natural disasters and COVID-19 pandemic. They encounter a multiple problems and challenges while providing services to the community. In this video, we will take a close look at their contribution to the society and the challenges they confront. The entire conceptualization, execution, direction, and cinematography were all undertaken by FCHVs, with the technical support from the HERD International.
