About Organisation
HERD International is a research and development agency dedicated to generating evidence and informing policy. Our mission involves empowering individuals and communities through collaborative efforts with policy practitioners, researchers, and concerned stakeholders. We are committed to promoting evidence-informed and contextually tailored solutions to address local issues, strengthen systems, and establish best practices, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the quality of life.
Evidence generation through high-quality research, monitoring and evaluation, and using data for decision-making is a major thrust of our work. We have a history of generating high-quality evidence that has been reflected in national policies and strategies. We have been registered at the Office of the Company Registrar under the Ministry of Industry, Government of Nepal. Our central office is located in Kathmandu.
Our Expertise
We have a proven track record of end-to-end delivery of various large-scale research and evaluation studies such as national-level household and health facility surveys; school and household assessment survey during the devastating earthquake of 2015 in Nepal, including other studies in the areas of operational research, implementation research, qualitative and quantitative studies, and mixed methods research, among others.
HERD International provides technical assistance to the government in the areas of policy and planning, service delivery, evidence generation and accountability, public financial management, quality of care, health infrastructure and gender equality, and social inclusion in the health sector. In particular, we have extensive experience of providing technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Population and local governments in the areas of policy, planning, and service delivery. For instance, one of our key contributions is on health system strengthening of Nepal government as one of the partner of Nepal Health Sector Strategy (NHSSP) funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
