Dr. Sampurna Kakchapati is an experienced public health professional and researcher with a PhD in Research Methodology. He brings over 15 years of extensive expertise in data science, statistics, quantitative research, and monitoring and evaluation. Recognized as a leading expert in the field, Dr. Kakchapati has demonstrated his proficiency by successfully conducting and overseeing various national and international research projects and surveys.
Dr. Kakchapati holds proficiency in data analysis using statistical packages such as R program and SPSS. His professional journey includes valuable contributions to diverse areas of public health, including but not limited to COVID-19, maternal and child health, health system, health resilience, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, non-communicable diseases, family planning, and sexual and reproductive health.
Currently serving as a Research Manager at HERD International, Dr. Kakchapati plays a pivotal role in leading, planning, coordinating, and executing research projects. Prior to this he served as a Research Coordinator and advanced-level faculty memeber of Public Health at Nobel College, Research Expert/Project Coordinator at ADRA Nepal, and Surveillance and Research Specialist at FHI 360 Nepal. Dr. Kakchapati has also gained international experience as a Senior Bio-statistician in HIV-NAT at Thailand, and as a Program Coordinator/Full-time Lecturer at Nepal Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS), Kathmandu.
His extensive professional background is further highlighted by contributions to renowned organizations such as the Ministry of Health and Population, World Health Organization, Abt Associates, UNAIDS, FHI-360 Nepal, World Vision International, Population Service International, International Medical Corps, International Nepal Fellowship, Save the Children, and Intrepid Nepal. Dr. Kakchapati has actively participated as a Public Health expert for COVID-19 Management under the Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal, and has provided crucial support to Nepal Police Hospital for various research activities.
Dr. Kakchapati’s scholarly achievements include authoring more than 40 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and producing 20 national and international reports. His demonstrated record of accomplished and productive research projects in data science, coupled with the establishment of institutional data management and analysis systems, underscores his commitment to advancing the field of Public Health.
