Mr. Madhav Chaulagain brings more than 20 years of professional experience in the field of strategic information, project monitoring and evaluation, surveillance and research, project design and implementation, governance, learning documentation, and knowledge sharing. He has an excellent track record in collaborating with government, donors, local organizations, and development partners in Health in Nepal. He is skilled in developing monitoring and evaluation plans and frameworks, mapping, research design and statistical analysis, database development and data visualization. He has contributed to developing several national level policies, guidelines and strategies, including national monitoring and evaluation guidelines, data analysis training modules, and training strategies for health data managers.
Prior to joining HERD International as Chief of Party for USAID Health Learning, Mr. Chaulagain served as the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Director at USAID’s Strengthening Systems for Better Health Activity. In this role, he led the design and implementation of capacity assessments of local health systems, indicator mapping, target setting, and reporting. He also helped to design and establish an in-house data collection system to standardize the information coming in from the field. Furthermore, he represented the Activity in various public forums, government and partners’ meetings, workshops, and training programs.
Mr. Chaulagain has many hobbies and interests, include bicycling, writing on social and developmental issues, and crafting short documentaries on places, culture, and travel destinations. In 2024, he authored a book in Nepali entitled, “Sapaadalakshya Karnali”.
